Please...don't be fooled by a wand which is not what it seems to be... Though it takes more time and costs a bit more to design wands from many different varieties of real wood the beauty and timelessness of the finished product is well worth it. This is exactly why every Alivans wand is handmade from the actual wood specified on the wand description page (i.e. Ebony, Holly, Rosewood, Lignum Vitae, etc.) and specifically inspected one at a time before shipping to its new owner. A beautiful wand crafted of the finest wood is truly a piece of art to be enjoyed for generations to come.

From Our Master Wandmakers...What to Look For:

• Read the item description carefully. Is the magic wand actually made of wood or does it just look like wood? This is a very common trend in "replica" wands. Be sure to read item descriptions carefully...you may see that there is no mention of these wands being made from wood at all. In fact they are made from solid plastic or resin. If you are looking for a wand cast by the thousands from an injection molding system then these would probably be a good choice...but I can think of no wizard who would be caught dead (or alive) with a wand made of plastic or resin...can you?
  
  
• Are the wands made from different wood varieties or are they made from one wood type and simply stained and finished in many colors and shades? This is done so the wands will look like many different wood varieties while all being made from the same type of wood (normally maple is used for this as it is much cheaper than many other wood varieties). Remember...the properties of the wood are very important...it is very clear that one wood type does not work for everyone. Descriptions should state the wood that the wand is made from and include a synopsis of what makes that wood magical. Please Note: Some wandmakers will name their wands the name of a certain wood type but never actually say that the wand is made of that wood. Be certain that the wandmaker truly states the actual wood that the wand is made from.
